SPD4459 The Little White Shoes Ginseng & Bird's nest Street

SPD4459 Internet Marketing and Public Relations

The little white shoes is bringing you to buy tonic food.

MTR Sheung Wan Station Exit A2. Walk towards Queen's Road Central via Hillier Street.

I believe you all know Western Market is a kind of shopping mall. However, how many of you know the history about it?

At present, the Western Market is the oldest market building surviving in Hong Kong which completed in 1906. The building was originally the old Western Market (North Block), which was identified by Antiquities and Monuments Offices (AMO) as one of the Declared Monuments in 1990.

The building is in Edwardian style that was popular in England from 1901 to 1918.

In response to the local climate and availability of material, a steep roof is used covered with Chinese pan and roll tiles. The roof displays the combination of oriental features into the early Western style of building in Hong Kong.

Lascar Row, Lascar Row, I believe you must have heard about this street if you are a Hong Kong-er. However, how many of you know the history behind it? Lets find it out with "The Little White Shoes"!

http://eastweek.my-magazine.me

In early Hong Kong, many Indian sailors and soldiers love hawking in this area. Hong Kong-ers love calling them as "嚤囉" (Indian who believe in Sikhism) at that time, therefore, this street was named as Lascar Row (摩羅街).

Actually Lascar Row (嚤囉 has been requested to change this name because it carries the meaning of races discrimination. Apparently, the street's name did not changed as it record part of the history of Central and Western District.

SPD4459 The Little White Shoes: Sugar Cane Juice At Grade 2 Historic Building - Kung Lee

SPD4459 The Little White Shoes!

In this hot summer, most of us must be looking for a drink to cool down ourselves, especially walking outdoor. Today, we are going to introduce a cool drink to all of you, Sugar Cane Juice from Kung  Lee which locates at Hollywood Road.

When you walk into Kung Lee, you will find decoration, inside whatever  windows and balcony are filling with the
'Old Hong Kong' style.

Kung Lee opened at 1984 which have history of a half century. Early in 1919, it was Wah Yan College, first English secondary school managed by Chinese. Later on, the school was revitalized as Kung Lee and becomes Grade 2 historic building in Hong Kong.

What make Kung Lee come across a half century and maintain its competitiveness nowadays ? To a large extent, the raw material uses and its business philosophy make it successful. For example, Sugar Cane Juice and Sugar Cane Tea make up of two different ingredients, Kung Lee would never mix up for charging a higher price.

Share!

Besides Sugar Cane Juice, there are Herbal Jelly and Five Flowers Tea. Among them, we truly recommend Sugar Cane Pudding to all of you. Its texture is soft and tastes fresh and cool !
