Hello everyone, we are going to look back the Old Central Police Station compound in this journal.

SPD4459

The Old central Police Station, which is the oldest structure within the compound is a barrack block built in 1864. Nowadays, the police station and prison are a Declared Monument in Hong Kong.It is a three-storey building constructed adjacent to Victoria Prison. A storey was later added to the block in 1905. In 1919, Headquarters Block facing Hollywood Road was constructed.

The late-Victorian style building is notable for its red brick walls, granite features and the imposing columns in its entrance hall. The barracks blocks at the left of the main entrance to the Old Central Police Station were built in 1860 and 1913. These have impressive granite staircases and wrought-iron balconies.

In recent years, the Hong Kong Government is committed to the promotion of heritage conservation and revitalization, these historic buildings are being activated, is expected to re-open at the end of 2015.

Built in 1841, Victoria Prison was understood to be the first western building constructed of durable material in Hong Kong. Most of the buildings within the compound were damaged by bombing during the Second World War. The Prison was reopened in 1946 after repairs.

SPD4459 The Little White Shoes: Sugar Cane Juice At Grade 2 Historic Building - Kung Lee

SPD4459 The Little White Shoes!

In this hot summer, most of us must be looking for a drink to cool down ourselves, especially walking outdoor. Today, we are going to introduce a cool drink to all of you, Sugar Cane Juice from Kung  Lee which locates at Hollywood Road.

When you walk into Kung Lee, you will find decoration, inside whatever  windows and balcony are filling with the
'Old Hong Kong' style.

Kung Lee opened at 1984 which have history of a half century. Early in 1919, it was Wah Yan College, first English secondary school managed by Chinese. Later on, the school was revitalized as Kung Lee and becomes Grade 2 historic building in Hong Kong.

What make Kung Lee come across a half century and maintain its competitiveness nowadays ? To a large extent, the raw material uses and its business philosophy make it successful. For example, Sugar Cane Juice and Sugar Cane Tea make up of two different ingredients, Kung Lee would never mix up for charging a higher price.

Share!

Besides Sugar Cane Juice, there are Herbal Jelly and Five Flowers Tea. Among them, we truly recommend Sugar Cane Pudding to all of you. Its texture is soft and tastes fresh and cool !

Today to Heritage (無論雨怎麼打,自由仍是會開花)

(SPD4459 The Little White Shoes)

(HKDI)-Lee Yin Wai  JAKE )

(HKDI) - Lee Yin Wai  JAKE )

(HKDI)- Lee Yin Wai  JAKE )

SPD4459 The Little White Shoes - 中西區歷史 History of Central and Western District

(SPD4459 The Little White Shoes)

The Central and Western District is one of the 18 administrative districts in Hong Kong and located on northern part of Hong Kong Island. The Central and Western District is also the earliest development district after opening the port of Hong Kong. It can be separated into 3 main parts which are central district (Admiralty, Central and SheungWan), Western (Western District, Shek Tong Tsui and Kennedy Town) and mid-levels district (Victoria Peak and Pokfulam).

Nowadays, in Central and Western District, there are lots of skyscrapers and you will be surrounded by them. These skyscrapers helped to showcase Hong Kong’s development to the world. On the other hand, Central and Western District is a place of history, culture and art fusion. The beauty of Central and Western District lies in its old and new, eastern and western cultural heritages, buildings and feature streets. For example: CFA building, the former Legislative Council Building, Pottinger Street, Bonham Street, and so on. These are the collective memories of HongKonger.

About us - The Little White Shoes

(SPD4459 The Little White Shoes )
